Main Requirements and Responsibilities
To be considered for a hostess job in Japan, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be present in the club during your shift, either near the bar or at the entrance
- Engage with guests and create a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere (passive consumption)
- Have a well-groomed, attractive appearance
- Be aged between 18 and 28
- Height of at least 160 cm
- Knowledge of English or Japanese is highly preferred (Google Translate is allowed on shift)
- No deportation stamps in your passport
Contract Terms and Work Conditions
Contract Duration & Hours:
- Minimum contract is 6 months
- Work hours depend on the club’s schedule: usually 18:00–02:00 or 19:00–03:00
- Advance payment is issued monthly 2–4 days off per month
Performance Opportunities:
- Some clubs may have poles for dance sets upon guest request
- All tips are kept in full by the hostess
Accommodation:
- Shared housing for 3–6 people
- Apartments are located near the club; free transportation is provided if farther away
Flight Reimbursement:
- Round-trip airfare is reimbursed by the employer upon arrival (with submitted receipts)
Visa Support:
- For “Model Hostess + Dancer” roles: a working visa (Certificate of Eligibility) is issued within ~3 months; you can remain in any country while waiting
- For “Model Hostess” 3-month contracts: a business visa is issued by invitation, processed in 2–3 weeks (you must remain in your home country during processing)
Salary and Bonuses
Guaranteed Salary:
- Base monthly salary starts at $600 USD
- Monthly food allowance: ¥30,000 (~$200 USD)
- Total guaranteed income: $800–$1000 USD/month (excluding in-club earnings)
Earnings from Club Activities:
- Income also comes from drink orders, “requests” (rekuesuto), and client outings (dohan)
- Average in-club earnings range from $700 to $1200 USD/month
Meal Allowance:
- Daily food stipend: ¥1,000 (~$10 USD/day)
Request Bonuses:
- Dohan (guest invites you to a meal/activity): ¥4,000
- Jyonai (guest requests you to stay at their table): ¥1,000
- Staying at table after intro: ¥500
Sales Bonuses (Uriage Bonus):
- ¥500,000 in food/drink sales = ¥25,000 bonus
- ¥600,000 = ¥30,000 bonus
- Every additional ¥100,000 = +¥5,000 bonus
Practical Tips
Clubs typically employ 10–20 girls at once. Apartments meet basic standards but reflect Japanese norms (compact living)
Shared spaces have 2–3 bedrooms, a kitchen (with stove/fridge), and a bathroom with a shower and washing machine. You must bring your own dishes and bedding. Japanese club culture emphasizes punctuality and etiquette
